I need your opinion

Okay. I have a Bullitt with roughly 25k miles on it. The tires are originals. I have some life left in them. If I keep them for the rest of the year through winter however, they will need to be replaced. I am surprised I still have them.
Here's my idea. I really want the 18-inch Bullitt replicas because, well, they are awesome looking. Here's my idea. Rather than buy snow tires, steel wheels, and a set of new tires in the spring, I found a guy on Ebay selling 18 inch bullitts with tires for like 800 bucks. 900 after shipping. This way, these new 18s become my summer tires and my old ones with very little life left in them could probably be stretched into two winters of use since they wouldn't see any hot summers of burning rubber. They way I look at it is that I need to do something, I might as well do something cooler than just some lame black steelies.
Input!

I would go for it if the 18" wheels had no damage at all. With respect to the original tires with 25K miles, I think you have gotten your money's worth already. I am surprised they have lasted this long. I would not drive with tires which might lead to losing control of the car. It would cost a lot more than a set of tires.

Andrew... the whole point of winter tires is to INCREASE traction. Now... using bald tires in the snow defeats the whole purpose. Go to a tire store and see if they have any decent condition used WINTER tires that could fit your rims.

Get the 18s with summer tires and put some real winter tires on your stock wheels. The stock tires were crap in the snow when they were new, and are even worse now.
actually, you might want to check if 16s would clear the Bullitt brakes. A set of 16" steelies or used V-6 rims and 16" snow tires may be cheaper than just the 17" tires.

Normally I think Bullitt wheels are too common but for your application since you have a Bullitt Mustang and the wheels seem to be in good shape I would say go for it. It doesn't matter what kind of car you have, if your tires are bald you will get very poor traction if any. New tires are in order no matter what you decide to do with the wheels.
25k is considerably good mileage on a set of tires that come from the manufacturer. Good luck and be safe
