Engine won't run!

Engine won't run!
I've got a 98 with 4.6 cobra motor. The car was originally a V6 but the guy I bought it from swapped the motor. It was running fine last summer til about Sept when i smelled wires burning. Before I got home the car shut off. A friend showed me the ecm and it was fried. It sat all winter and a month ago I sent it to the shop for a new ecm and tune up. He got a new ecm but still wouldn't start. He says the motor runs with starter fluid but the injectors won't do anything. He changed the fuel pump, solenoid and some other things but still nothing. He thought maybe the anti-theft system was on and the ecm had to be flashed and the keys reprogrammed. But only the dealer could do it. So off to the dealer it went. They tell him my car doesn't have an anti-theft cpu so ecm can't get a signal to reprogram the keys. It hasn't had one since the swap so the anti-theft theory is out. My mechanic is out of ideas so I'm hoping someone can help me out with one. Thanks.

Visited the mechanic yesterday. He thinks when the motor was originally swapped they tuned the ecm and turned off the anti-theft. So he thinks I should send it out to be tuned. Anyone know a good tuner in the NJ area?

Good to hear! if you smelled wires burning may be a good idea to check the harness for shorts. If its a swap most likely things have been spliced in sounds like you may have a short somewhere. No sense in frying another PCM if all you need is a good once over of the harness.
