Engine dies while driving HELP !
Ok so im headed home this past weekend rolling at about 80 mph and all of a sudden the car starts losing power in short bursts.RPM drops then goes back up and even completely dies about 8 times in an hours drive.I pull over and it wont immediately start it takes a couple tries and even then acts like it doesnt want to.Ive been reading alot of stuff on the net about it and it seems the pick-up coil has issues. The car has 250k miles on it and the distributor has prob never been changed.I checked my ignition coil and acording to my Haynes manual its in spec @ .8 ohms in the .8 to 1.6 ohm range.I just replaced the alternator and the fuel filter and the cap/rotor look like new. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

250K miles? Check the spark plug wires. I had a similar issue with my 88. It only has about 28K miles but had the original wires. I put new plugs & new OEM wires & it runs like a beast again.
If your wires look like they're charred, darkened or a little brittle; change them. I tried a couple different brands but the OEM fit the best unless you want to get the "cut to length" wires.
Good luck.
