Since I am only 18 insurance of my 2004 GT is pretty high - I have no tickets at all. I am just wondering if anyone has any stories of how insurance companies really helped them out - accidents-anything. Or if you're getting ripped off or have a bad story too... I am sick of insurance rates! How much are other people paying anyways?

at 19 i had a 2002 V6 convertible, on my dad's policy, no tickets, no points. paying 4400 a year cause I'm a guy living in NJ under the age of 25. Lost the Mustang in a flood, so they totalled the car, so my premium went up, which was bullcrap. 4 weeks later, got into into a minor fender, no damage to my dad's car, but 500 bucks damage to his car, only needed to replace the back bumper. So then my premium went up, again! So now, I buy a 2005 Mustang GT. My premium under my dad's policy is now 5500, but if I was to get my own policy under the insurance company my father use's, 6300 dollars!!! So what happens, Geico insure's NJ!!!! I call them, tell them everything, including my lil fender bender and the flood, they didn't boost my premium for the flood but boosted it just a lil for the fender bender, came back with a quote, under MY OWN policy, 3700 bucks!!!!! Man Geico saved me a whole lot, I am now 21 and still hold a good driving record with no tickets, I still get Firefighter and Honor Student Discount which brings it down 250-300 bucks, so I'm in the range of 3400-3700 bucks a year, what a relief!!

my insurance dropped a ton after i turned 25. it is now 76 dollars a month for full coverage on my 01 gt, and liability on my v8 cougar xr7. they gave me absolutleyno grief when my mustang as vandalized for over 1000 dollars, keyed, egged, and some tires pooped. they came over, took some pictures, and gave me a check. but insurance is gonna be a ***** until you hit 25 my man.

Doug, different states have different laws regarding ages for permits/licenses. I live in SC and you can be 15 to get your permit, and the 180 days after you get your permit you can get your restricted and drive by yourself.

My insurance on my 95 v6 was 1,200 a year with little coverage. However, I still haven't found out what my insurance is with my 99 GT... I'm pretty afraid (I'm only 16)

Way back in 1989, I had a 2.3l Ford Tempo GLS. It was sporty looking, but no sports car. Had a little spoiler and thats it. However, my insurance back then was $1200 a year. Until I turned twenty five did it drop some. I currently pay at age 34 for my 99 GT about $1100 a year.
No tickets either.

im 25 wife is 24. have an 04 GT w/ full coverage and a 92 lx with liability only. insurance for both is about 750 per year. i pay about 15 per month on my 92 and around 55 per month on my 04. i have geico. unfortunately age really hurts you for insurance coverage. mine has steadily dropped each year. and i got a speeding ticket 2 years ago. and had an accident and speeding ticket when i was 18. try and find a good company and stay with them. they will treat you better than if you switch company's all the time. you might find a little bit cheaper price else where but they wont treat you as good, and will try to jerk you around. my wife hit a log in the highway and did some pretty good paint damage to the front and hood. all i had to do was pay my deductable. and that was it. geico didnt even count it against me. and my rates still went down another 50 for 6 months when i just renewed my policy. oh, and where you live really counts too for high insurance. id hate to see 18, full coverage on a sports car in NY city! :bang:

I'd love to see that rate. You're married, so that's helps too.

being married helped alittle. but the multi car discount was more than the two person policy.

That's good to hear as I'm planning on getting a Stang as a 2nd car.

I'm trying to hold off till I hit 25(I turn 24 in a few weeks), but I need to check the multi-car rate also.
