I am having a problem guys. I am really looking to get a new car. I have a 98 gt with 102,000 miles on it and I do not want to wait until I start having big trouble with it to get a new one. It is a vert and I am starting to hear some noises here and there. Here is where the problem comes in. I really, really, really like the 03/04 Cobras. I just am not sure if the prices will drop to where I want them. I also like the 05 Mustang GT. :worship: I am looking at some used Cobras with about 6000 miles on them for around $27,000. I believe the prices will drop when the 05 comes out. I know I shouldn't have, but I talked to a dealer about it and he said, get this  , the prices will go up on the current style Cobras because they will not be available until 06. Does that sound strange to anyone but me? I am looking forward to all feedback.

I made the same (well almost...) mistake asking if the current GT's and he told me they would actually go up! I mean, I could some reason behind the Cobra going up, but a lowly GT?
I'm not sure about the Cobra seeing as it's a special edition, but when a new bodystyle comes out, doesn't it make sense to see a price drop?

I would imagine it depends how well the new model does. I mean in this instance, there will be no Cobra till 2006 and what if, when it does come out, it does not perform as well as the 03-04s did? What if it does perform as well, but costs more than the previous models did? Certain things make a car more or less sought after, so I think it really depends on what the 06 is like.

Don't believe the salesman...

it's all about supply and demand... there are still 2003 cobras sitting on dealer lots if you look around hard enough. We are a quarter of the way through '04... so basically he is trying to tell you that the price of a car will go up despite the fact there are year-old cars sitting on the lots... bah... no dice
