Well guys' it is to a "T" now. I am getting my own GT/MACH1 around August 20-27th. I had a talk with my family (or my family had a talk with me) and said we are so proud of you, blah, blah...you have showed your resposnisble (17yo and work about 28hrs/wk and have a 3.4 GPA) and they said we are willing to help you get your car.

So my mom, grandma, and Aunt & Unlce are all chipping in for my birthday and giving me my down payment to a GT/MACH1. I will have about 25-2800 for a down payment and then my mom and grandma will will pay for the insruance and I will just have to pay for the car payment (which will be about 350-400$/month, guessing?).

So now here it comes I have the cash in hand so I know it isn't a scam at all. Which year would you all choose...I will start looking very hard about 100miles away from me and as close to 1mile for the best deal I can get. I don't know if I wanna go brand new (04) unless I can get a really good deal.

My limits are about 18.5-19K. No more than that at all, I can't afford the payment then...and on top of that it should be paid off in about 3 yrs, just in time for the 07 Cobra!

So help me out my scavangers...help me out B)

Congratulations!!

I had to wait until I was 23 and could afford one myself

I would go for a .........mach 1. If you believe the supply and demand curve, very soon prices are going to drop dramatically for the SN-95's!

I hope you find the car you have been dreaming of

17 years old and getting a 4.6l :bang: :bang: (insurance here would be in excess of $7000. That is after the clerk on the phone stopped laughing. "You want to insure WHAT???")

Well I am so glad that 22 people viewed this and only one reply...geesh, thought you all would be happy for me

Guess not...

Anyway, thanks for the reply back muzzy...insurance, like I said is handled by my mom, and will only run about 1800/6months!

Congrats, sounds like a very supportive family. Just be careful and respect the power. I'm 35 and have bursts of stupidity at times just in my GT. Remember no tix will equal cheaper insurance. I know you're not paying for it right now but one day you will have to. There's some Mach's around here but I'm about 2k miles away, lol!!!

Congrats s7v7n!

My parents helped get me into my first Mustang which was a 99 V6. Be careful with whatever you get and enjoy it! B)

Congrats! Definately get the Mach 1 if you can swing it. You won't be sorry!

Check Ebay for some deals. There is an 03 Mach 1 on ebay that is about 20 min from my house, and there are no bids at $18.9K, so you should be able to find what you want at the price you want.

Good Luck, and let us know how your search is going.

Congrats! This must be a very exciting time for you.

In that price range you should be able to buy a low mileage, well taken care of 2K GT Spring Edition or a Bullitt and come out with a few bucks to spare. Limited editions will always hold their value better.

Here are some tips:
- I would stay away from modded or track ready ponies as you will not have the benefit of a manufacturer's warranty.
- Get a carfax report. With a limited income, you don't want to inherit a lemon or car with a "salvaged" title.
- Check with you insurance company about the cost a policy with the different models you have in mind. You don't want to get over your head and have to sell the car in six months.
- Buying from the first owner could be a benefit and a money saver over a dealer.
- Have the car checked and diagnosed by a professional. Being rational over emotional can pay off in the long run.

Check www.autotrader.com and go under "collector cars". There should be plenty of choices in your price range. Best of luck.

You could probably get a 2004 GT Deluxe for 19.5K.

Also check my topic "Best Deals on Remaining SN95s", I totally know how you feel with the T-bird falling to pieces. haha

Oh this might be of some help, it is a site that does estimates and tells what others are paying.

You load it up, and get an estimate......color makes a difference in price.....kinda strange, but I noticed Silver/Black/Yellow Stangs are higher priced compared to Torch Red/Redfire Stangs.

Other than the Cobra's I think the Mach 1's are the best on the market; hands down......I guess cuz I don't go for the flashy style.

To let you all know...I will deffintely (sp?) be going to buy from a dealer...it's a must. That way I can get some money for my car and then maybe get a warrenty thrown in on the price! Hoping!

If you guys' see some stuff out there...I am willing to travel to see a MACH or BULLIT for 12G's

Congrats! I'm sure you are getting sick of this but please be careful with the car and don't wreck it showing off. The insurance will be bad enough for you but if you are too crazy with it, it will come back to haunt you later. My advice is to go for the Mach1, comp orange. It is a sweet ride.

Here's the Mach 1 I mentioned that I saw on ebay. There are deals out there.

Mach 1

Check out what they paid initially!

I agree with George's (IBULLITT) comments., and cannot emphasize enough, GET A CARFAX REPORT!

That price is not too bad (by Rip-off British standards) Works out at around £19,700. When you think that a fully loaded 1.8L focus costs just short of £15,000, I would pay the extra 5k!!

(But to get it here and pay the import duties, tax and getting it road legal here would add an extra £8k ($14k) )

I had a 1999 Mustang GT convertible with an automatic that I sold a year ago for $14,000. That car was a blast! You should get a vert in Arizona.
My advice would be to get any year 1999-2004, just choose it based on the color, mileage and options you want. There is very little difference between those years, and if you go with a GT instead of a Mach or Bullitt, you may get a better deal. I would get the lowest priced car you can, so your payments will be lower, allowing you more money for gas and mods.
