Complete failure 96 gt

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I pulled out the other day, and noticed that my radio went off for about 2 seconds. As I pulled on to the 4 lane I got to about 35 miles an hour, and my car lost complete power. The check engine light, abs light and other warning lights was flashing rapidly. My radio was constantly coming on and going off. The car backfired and was idling extremely rough. I came to a stop, and everything started working again. I pulled back out and it was like nothing had ever happened. This one has really got me stumped

You may have a low battery or one getting ready to go bad. How old is your battery?

I'd say go get your alternator checked (and battery). I've had a similar issue before that was caused by the alternator going bad. At a certain rpm, all the electronics would go crazy and then start shutting off.

My battery is probably about 3 1/2 years old.

Have the battery and alternator checked, both give those symptoms when they go bad.

Sorry it took me so long, work and everything has been crazy lately. I stopped in a local auto parts place, and they run a test on my alternator and my battery. Everything came back showing good, I did however have a large amount of corrosion on the positive terminal of my battery. I cleaned it up real good, so far no problems.

I'm suprised, but hopefully that'll keep you fixed up for good.
