Coil over question

It is time to do some supension work on my 02 GT Vert. I have swapped the SRA for a 03-04 IRS, but I am considering going to coilovers. Could i Get by with just switching the front or would it be best to swap all around? If i just do the fronts whar spring rate would you recommend. I am currently running the front pair of the FMS G springs. I am running a cobra coupes rear springs.

Can you get away with it, yes, but in the long run its pointless. Eventually you'll want to swap the rears as well. What are you using the car for? Depending on that will depend on what spring rate you want.

Mostly street. I have taken it on the track a time or two. If I do not change to coil overs would I swap the springs for a matched set? I f I remember correctly the fronts on the g springs were progressive and rated at 650lb. The rears were 320lbs. The ones that are on the rear now are the 600lb ones from the cobra coupe. I haven't noticed any adverse effects from the stiffer rears. The only issue I have is a vibration in the front which I am chalking up to bad spindles an hubs. The car has always had a slight vibration in the front from day one..

As someone who has a full set of coilovers, and has only installed the fronts so far, I would highly recommend doing all four corners if you can.

the car is noticeably more tail happy. Sure you can drive it just fine and theres nothing technically wrong about it, but the car feels imbalanced

as soon as my shock tower brace is here, you can bet i'll be installing my rear coilovers asap

Dont coilovers on the rear limit tire sizes? And even suspension options for adding a panhard bar?

I wouldn't think so. The control arm itself limits the tire from going far enough inwards to contact the coilover, and I know the MM and Griggs panhard bars work with coilovers

I'm planning on an MM one eventually

I thought I read it on MMs website. I'll see if I can find it.

Maybe in regard to super fat wheel/tire combos for drag cars, but I don't think most of us have to worry about that.

Id think a 315 would be alright. I've never heard of coilovers rubbing.

I don't think anything anyone's running on a street car is gonna be much of an issue. And even if the wheels and tires are deep enough to fill minitubs, i imagine theres enough other stuff to worry about before you even get to the coilovers, what with narrowed axles and tubs themselves and whatnot.

I'd be shocked if 315s had problems, and even more if 275s did. They're bigger than stock sure, but theres a lot of room in these fenders

A pan hard bar is not an issue with my car as I have the IRS under it. What spring rates would be best for a 02 Gt convertible? I currently have the ford racing G springs in e front ~600lb rate and the cobra coupe springs in the rear ~600lb. The car seems to Handel just fine, but I was considering the coil overs thinking they might improve the ride and handling .

Now that I have finally installed the rear coilovers into my car I will say that the KW coilovers changed the ride of my car forever. I cannot for the life of me remember my spring rates, but the car is much more comfrotable and flat now. It's still a SRA car of course, but going over the **** roads in my area are now bearable at least.

I don't know what the best choice for IRS is but I'll bug peter, he might know lol. The springs actually wont make the biggest difference in terms of ride comfort, your shocks will. I *think* pete is running adjustable konis, but I'm not entirely certain.
