Does it go away with your radio turned off? Mine whines like crazy through my speakers. I apparently have a loose ground somewhere.

That's on hydroboost vehicles. Not vacuum boost. Unless his cobra is hydroboosted.. I can't remember.

You most likely have a hydro boost style brake system and your powersteering pump is going out causing you to hear it when you apply the brakes. You will need a new power steering pump most likely.

Steering wheel leak??? What's that??? Does it have to do with the blinker fluid tank?

I was talking about a leak in to one of the hoses in the steering wheel system.

Hate to be that guy that brings these oldish threads back.
But almost four months since I noticed this and finally got around to getting it fixed.

Power steering flush was all I needed.

Everything is running back to normal now.

Flushes tend to be a temporary fix because the old fluid already caused some damage. Most cases anyways. I would keep an eye out as you may still have an issue.

Check the power steering. That sounds like the pump not getting enough or low on fluid

Once again tbone is right. The whining noise came back last night. It was a temporary fix. I haven't noticed any machincal problems with this other than the annoying whining noise
