Check Engine Light Back On, Again
#1
I have a bassani X-pipe with 2 cats and a borla catback. 3 years ago when I installed the Xpipe the check engine light came on, so I bought some MILs and the problem was solved. Now the light is back on with a code stating "low catalyst efficiency" i.e., my X-pipe. My question to you is did my MILs go bad, or is there something else that I am missing  thanks

I'd get under there and make sure no wires have come loose or made contact. You say you have a "power flash" in your sig, why not have the ecu reflashed again to turn off the rear 02 sensors. That will keep you from having to have mils anymore (you can leave them in place though, wont hurt anything)

Scott,
Thanks for the advice. When I called Saleen they no longer do Power Flashes, according to the Saleen Rep. But reflashing and having those sensors turned off sounds good. I guess I will have to replace the MILs.

You should be able to chip the ECU or flash it. You may want to look at a SCT tune. Doug904 on this board can probably help you out. check his site, http://www.bamachips.com

Once Saleen flashes the PCM it cannot take a chip unless it is unflashed by Saleen. Saleen did an excellent job on calibrating my speedo when i got gears. I tried doing the "chips", but every chip would make my torque converter lock-up. There was an inherent problem in the software for automatic GTs. anyhow, i am going to look into the MILS, less hassle than going the PCM route. thanks.

You can reflash a PCM that's been flashed by Saleen, done it. Saleen's programming isn't a whole lot better then factory because they too have to pass emissions requirements in california and other places.
If you can give me some more insite on your car I could possibly help, I'm an SCT dealer.
Thanks, Doug904.
