Change differential gear ratio on automatic?
Have a 1996 mustang gt with an automatic transmission. I recently checked the gear ratio and it was 3 rotations of the drive shaft to 1 rotation of the tire. I'm not sure what that makes the ratio but I think it's stock. Can you change the gears on a gt with automatic transmission? To something like 3.73 or higher?
What I'm hoping to accomplish is a much faster acceleration from 0-40ish. It seems sluggish till it hits 30mph then you can feel the acceleration really pick up.
The transmission does have a shift kit installed (or so I was told) and shifts more like a manual would, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the sluggish acceleration.
I will say it still accelerates faster than previous car, but it isn't quite what I'd like.
