I am getting ready to supercharge my 2001 GT, I need to know can the stock tranny(t-45 I believe) handle the extra Hp and Tq ? If I must upgrade what is the best to use. If I can keep my stock tranny will it need any mods to keep it alive? THANKS!!

How much boost? You will probably be okay with a 6lb kit but how long will that be enough? Are you just driving it on the street or taking it to the strip? Just a couple of things to think about.

The stock tranny should be ok with what Redfiresnake said about the boost. Also, repeated trips to the track with 4500 RPM launchs on slicks will not keep it one piece too long, but 'spirited' street driving should be ok.

Your car has the 3650, not the crap t-45. It should be ok with just street driving up to about 370rwhp. Anything over that is going to start really straining the tranny. Also if you are running drag radials or any type of sticky tire, it wont hold up to that long at any power level really. For a street tire, should be fine though for awhile.

yeah you should be fine. just depends on how you treat it. if you launch hard and shift hard all the time with elevated power levels. it wont last long. but if you drive normal most of the time and just "play" from time to time the 3650 should last a while. break it, pull the blower take it to ford and say what the heck happened??? LOL
