CAI for '04 - no need to reflash?
Hey guys - my main knowledge involves the S197s so I bopped in here for some advice...
My pop has a sweet 04 Redfire vert and my bro and I were thinking about getting him a CAI for his ride (last car show we went to, he lept mentioning getting one..)
Unlike the S197s, for something like this, you can just install one anfd go correct? You don't HAVE to mess with the computer?
Thanks!

I've heard conflicting reports on this. It's not necessary to do any reflashing after a CAI installation, but a lot of people say that you will not see any gain without doing so.
A lot of people only get them for the visual appeal, so they dont reflash, and there isnt any harm in not doing so. However, if you are spending good money for a nice CAI, and your Dad will want to see the maximun power potential from it, a tune will definitely help.

If I remember correctly, the comp. module is able to adjust to minor changes in the air flow on the intake, so you can just disconnect the + terminal on the battery for a few minutes after installing the CAI then reconnect to 'reboot' the module. Correct me if I'm wrong...
I would see if they sell a packaged kit like for the S197. put one on my wifes 04gt before we sold it. it looked alot nicer and you could hear the air rush louder. but i really didnt notice that much of an improvement
