Buying a Mustang GT off eBay.
#1
Okay, there are some pretty darn good prices on GTs and Machs on eBay. I think that this will be the best place for me to buy one since I am tight for money. However since I wan't a V-8 stang more than anything I can remember I think eBay may be a good idea. Has anyone out there bought cars off ebay or does anyone know of people who get them off ebay?

ive sold some cars on ebay....my old 90GT, a friend's 300ZX and some other 1 i cant remember....but really, dont buy the car unless u can go to check it out 1st and test drive it, or its from a very reputable person...because god knows what can happen to a car u havent seen! i was wrong to buy my 66FB and it needed a serious resto! the owner wasnt kidding, but i didnt listen and still bought it :P

Yeah, definitely.
Only buy if they're close enough that you can go see the car in person before you place your bid. Most honest people will be glad to accomodate such a request, but if the seller doesn't, he's probably trying to scam you. Caveat emptor, Richard.

I sold my '72 unseen. The guy bought it on e-bay, and turned up 3 days later with the money and drove it away!
I very nearly purchased a 2003 gt vert from a dealer in FL. unseen, but stopped myself before I did.

My mother in law has had trouble buying stuff off of ebay not with cars but other stuff. Personally I wouldnt buy something I havent seen. Have you happened to check Corral.net? Most of the guys on there have pretty good prices. Also just curious as to what your looking for.

I agree with everyone here, even if it a long daytrip, best to drive up to the car and see it in person.
All kinds of bad stuff could have happened, prior accident damage, the car having the tar beaten out of it, etc.

I bought my 3rd Capri off ebay.com, and went to look at her after I had won the auction, but I had spoke with the owner about 5 times over the phone and through numerous emails.
Drove ~7 hours to look at her, and the gentleman who owned her handed me my deposit I had sent and said if you want her take her, or if she isn't what you expected here is your money back!!
Very good guy, and I still speak with him.

B) I found my 2003 Cobra on E-bay after haggling with dealers in this area and not getting what I wanted. I didn't bid on the car. I just called the dealer after I saw it on e-bay and made life miserable for the salesman and finance mgr. for 2 days. I had the car shipped from Michigan down to central florida. Got a great buy and I would definitely do it again!
