Bullit Ques.
#2
'Dark Highland Green was not available on any other Mustang. Exterior features included a blacked-out corral around the pony in the grille, red brake calipers with a silver Mustang, simpler side scoops, and a brushed aluminum fuel door. Spoilers and fog lamps weren't available on the Bullitt. 2001 Bullitt Mustangs had a retro interior theme. The new seats were designed after seats from the 1960s, and were much more comfortable than the standard seats. The numbers in the gauge cluster were written in a tall, thin font like in the 1960s as well. The shifter was aluminum and the door lock soldiers were silver, as was the shifter trim ring. The Bullitts had a different intake than the GT they were based upon, and the upgrades resulted in an additional five horsepower. The C-pillars were also altered, and "BULLITT" was engraved on the sill plates.'

The Bullitt has 5 more HP, but I've driven a GT and a Bullitt, and I can say, the Bullitt is closer to my mach 1 than it is to a GT.
George (1Bullitt) has owned both (still has the Bullitt), and he could give you a better comparison.

Differences:
1. Cobra brakes with Red Brake Calipers
2. Spoiler and fog lamp delete
3. Smaller side body scoops
4. Bullit specific paint colors
5. Aluminum engine intake
6. Dual-Bore Cobra throttle body
7. Retro styled gauges and upholstery
8. Intro of Bullit styled wheels
9. Higher, underrated, HP Rating of 265hp.

Yeah they have one for sale (black) at a Ford dealer right by me. I would definately get it if it wasn't for the 2005 Mustang GT I have alreay ordered. Plus, I'd be happier with my 05.
The Bullitt has about 34,000 miles on it for about 19,000. Pricey but it'll be a good investment to whoever gets it since they are rare.

can anyone tell me how a Bullit differs from a GT?

From a driver's standpoint, the handling and exhaust sound sets the tone of the differences. From the owner's side, pride, history, uniqueness, and exclusivity sets a very enjoyable experience when driving it, washing it, or just plain admiring it. It is an attention getter but only to its owner.
The Mach 1 is a better all around model, the Cobra is the ultimate experience, but the low key DHG Bullitt is in a class by itself. I recently had to make a choice on whether to keep the Bullitt or a black Mach 1. I set them side by side, stared at them for a few minutes and the Mach 1 became the sacrificial lamb, but no regrets. I hope this personal insight helps. Good luck.

$18 -19K would be for those with 1/3 of those miles and it has to be pristine. The present average is around $16K.

in a few years, it will gain collector car status, and the price will go up

Not likely..most late model Mustangs will never go up. They may maintain some value, and not go up much if any.

Uh, no it won't. Sorry guys, but there are just too many of them out there for it to be a true collectible.
Look at Mustangs from the 60's and early 70's to get an idea of what I'm talking about. When you factor in the original purchase cost, compare it to today's price, adjust it for inflation and add in insurance expenses over the years, these cars have cost their owners a ton of money. Then again, you can't put a price on smile value.
Now, a V12 Ferrari from that era is a different story. But instead of a production run in the thousands, we're talking about 200 or less for all models. And therein lies the difference. Check out the price of a 275GTB and you'll see what I mean.
It reminds me of an ad I saw years ago for a sailboat (now there's a way to deplete your wallet fast!). Under the pic of the boat, which was nice, the caption read something like "When was the last time you invited your friends over to see your newest CD?" That's Certificate of Deposit, not Compact Disc, by the way.
It's about emotion and enjoyment. Anything else and you're just kidding yourself.
