Battery Light
Battery Light
Newbie here.
I just purchased a 99GT Convertible (triple white), and I noticed that there is a picture of a battery which lights up intermittently. I've taken it to advance, and they checked the battery, and alternator which they tell me are both fine. There code reader was broken so they couldn't hook up and see if there are any computer codes. What makes this worse is the car came with none of the manuals. Can anyone tell me what this indicator may be for?

Karman's right, some part of the charging system is intermittently failing. The code reader may not find the problem unless the battery light is lit when they check it.
I just replaced the original battery in my 98. Pretty happy that I got 7 years out of it, but they eventually fail and are usually the first to go.

Thanks for the replies. The guy at Advanced told me to try bringing it back in when the light was lit, and he would re-test. That’s easier said than done however since I never know when its going to light up. He told me that if he had to guess however, then he would suspect the alternator is starting to fail. I read somewhere else that under drive pullies could cause this type of effect, is there any easy way to determine if there are under drive pullies installed?

That's what it supposed to mean.
