I am writing to find out if the problem I have with my car is typical.

I have 84,000 miles. Lately something happened to my car and my passenger side back tire keeps hopping like it's "loose" or out of control. This is when I just drive around normally. Regardless of how specially balanced a tire I mount to this side, the problem is still there and doesn't go away.

I replaced the axle shaft and the axle bearing on that side of the car but the problem is still there. New struts/shocks and quad shocks were installed but that didn't help either.

I thought maybe I had a bent axle shaft but that wasn't it.

I want to diagnose this problem myself, then get it fixed.

In theory does this sound like i have a broken control arm bushing? I am starting to think this is the problem since the new axle bearing and axle shaft had no effect.

Also could a warped Rotor cause the back tire to bounce? I don't see why that could cause any problems.

If anyone else has had this same thing happen to their car and they were able to fix it, please let me know. I currently don't drive my car because I don't want to inflict any harm to my axle or bearings.

I just want to know if this problem is typical or not.
Thanks for any advice.

I would definitely take a look at your upper and lower control arms (both axle and chassis side) to make sure they are in good working order.

Are you running gears, drag radials, anything other than stock? All the info you can provide the better.

Btw, welcome to the site

Thanks for the welcome.

The suspension is stock. For now, everything is stock other than 2-chamber flows, kyb quad shocks, & monroe gas shocks/struts.

I'd get under there, check the control arms, then you need to start looking at things to make sure nothing is warped or bent (like a control arm), shock mounting point, axle tube. I have a feeling this isnt going to be an easy find.

What is the tire wear like? It possibly could be the control arm. Take it to the dealer if it has a warranty, cause the warranty would cover it.

oh i figured it out. i just had to jack up the car, center the tire on the lugs, then torque them down while the tire was in mid air. it fixed it.
