I'm leaving right now to test drive an 04 mach 1. The cash price is 25k. Only 38 miles. I can't believe it. Only thing is it's an automatic. I've heard mixed things about the autos in the new machs. I was hoping you guys could give me some positive feedback on the autos. Not sure if anyone in this forum has an auto? One thing that I was told about them was that the back end steps out on the 1-2 shift. I don't mean to sound uneducated, but can anyone tell me what this means? By the way, it's azure blue with the interior upgrade package.

Back end stepping out means that the car jumps sideways a bit on hard acceleration. This will only happen if you really get on it. It will happen with a manual also.

If you want an auto you should be fine. Just make sure you REALLY want an auto because manual + mach 1 = more fun. But again, it depends on your preference.

I'll let the other guys comment on the deal but I have a feeling that 25k for a used mach 1 with 38 miles will likely get you some "there are better deals to be had responses".

To be honest, (and this goes with anything), just because something isn't THE BEST deal, doesn't mean the deal isn't good for you. I think its a personal decision.

I just wonder if you can't get a new Mach 1 for 25k.

Not knowing the sticker price but based on what I could find, an'04 Mach 1 auto stickers for $30,750, invoice is $28,369, if you take off the rebate of $2500 that puts you at $25,869 not counting tax, title and fees. My guess would be that they've had the car for a while and just want to move it.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal. There are fewer and fewr Mach 1s on lots these days. Like Dan said though, are you sure you want the automatic?

Auto Manual....you are still getting a mach 1. priace isnt too bad. some people might have gotten better deals or whatever. but as long as you are satisfied with the deal and happy. thats all that matters

Well, the final cost after tax , title, and license and upgrading to the 6 year, 75k warranty was just under 29k. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. Don't think I'll be able to sleep all night. I think it's just starting to sink in. I just bought a mach 1!!!

I was hesitant at first about getting the auto, but with as much city driving as I do, I had to have one. I have actually grown to love it, and believe me it punches pretty dang hard. I feel like unless you are taking it to the drag strip you won't notice the difference in speed. B)
