I'm thinking Dan has a problem, It's like going cold turkey, he tries to stay away, but he hears the carss callling him... Dannnnvrooom vrrrooom Oh Dannnnn Vrrrrooom... and he has to go....I think they are going to have to start posting mounties at all local ford dealers to keep him out....
But Seriously Dan, I can't wait to hear about your next trip to ford....
hehe....you got it.

But seriously, the next car I'll test drive will be an 05. That will be my last of the foxes.

Its it my fault I go on test drives to make for interesting discussion afterwards on here??

And its not that I have a problem, just that I hate talking about cars I haven't driven....... and.......well......I guess I have a problem.

One other thing I've noticed, all the people threatening to punch Dan were ALL Mods,

Do you have to be a psycho to do that job then??

I don't. I know you're honest in your view and I will not be offended by a negative perspective, specially from you, but it is hard to come to a solid conclusion after one TD. As for the refinement, I differ on that opinion as well. I like the heavy clutch and the presice shifts. I find it a challange to be able to control this car without making any mistakes.

LOL you guys are funny. when we got my 04Gt we(wife and I) test drove all 3. i felt the mach 1 was the best value for the car she would be driving. but i would NEVER let her loose with Cobra power on a daily basis. but the nuances that dan mentioned were there. im wide so the seats were a little snug but no more than the mach. and i like the heavy pedal. going from my 92 to the 04 i have a hard time getting going b/c the 04's pedal is so light. but the 04 cobra reminded me of my 92 w/ its quirks. just wish i had 390+ HP

George, overall its still the best mustang I've ever driven. My minor criticisms wouldn't keep me from buying one. If anything, it exceeded my expectations. So hopefully I didn't come across like I didn't like it. TRUST ME, it would be in my driveway right now if it wasn't for my love of the 05. (During the day I still think about going over there and grabbing that Torch Red one I saw).

For me though, the new car will have many subtle improvements aside from looks that will make it a better daily driver IMO. I also have to drive it through the winter as well.

I do worry a bit that if for some reason the 05 isn't everything I hoped or that it is not much different from the Cobra as far as my complaints go, that I will have missed my opportunity to pick up a Cobra. But from everything we've seen, I don't think that will be the case at all.

At the end of the day, if there was a confirmed SE (350hp) for the new car I wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I don't disagree with any of that. Just as a daily driver it would have gotten tiring.

I"m starting to think this is like a contest...how many times will the dealer let you drive a car...I have test driven 2 cobras, 1 cent vert and I test drove my car about 6 times.. I used to go down to the dealer and ask for the keys to my car, and tell him I'm taking it for the day.... By the time I bought it, I had already put 200 miles on it...So do I have Dan Beat? or do I have to go drive a Mach now too???... OH This is all at the same dealer...if that counts

I think you win.....200 miles...wow. Now YOU sir have a problem. Maybe we should start an TDA, or test drivers anonymous group.

So far (from what I can remember) I have driven the following in the last 2-3 years:

1 Mustang V6 (way back when)
2 Mustang GT Coupes
2 Mustang GT Verts
2 Mustang Mach 1's
1 Mustang Cobra (2003)

Dan - that's a great story. I can only imagine the power difference. I know for me, just going to an 01 - the power was awesome.

With the 03/04 having 400+ HP . . . walking away would have been very difficult for me.

LOL, i dont know i think i can call myself a testdrive junkie too. and my wife hates it. the dealer where we test drove all 3 we didnt even get the car we bought from. they had an orange GT, MACH, and COBRA at one of their other stores and they kept trying to get us to pick another color. so we test drove all of them and told them we would call back. but my friend at another dealr got in a fully loaded GT which is what we bought. if the other dealer had just said we will get you the car down here tomorrow. i would have gotten atleast a Mach, or even the cobra. b/c the wife didnt ask about insurance until a couple days later and then she decided she wanted a GT

but i have driven

1. 99 Cobra
1. 00 GT
2. 01 Cobra (1vert)
1. 03 Cobra
2. 04 GT's
1. 04 Mach, Cobra
1. 03 BMW M3
2. 350Z (1 Roadster)

aw i think i should the the TDA president
