96 GT Clutch

I have a 96 gt that my mechanic says the clutch will need replaced. He said that he could order the clutch for me. Its a brand I've never heard of and it costs like 196.00 plus a 30.00 shipping charge, the brand of it is a "LUK". Has anybody ever heard of this clutch brand and if its worth that price? He told me it was basically like stock.

Luk is what about 90% of dealerships that I know of use. They have an OE style clutch. If you don't plan on any major modifications then I would go with it.

Will it stand up to daily driving and the occasional red light burnout and race?

If you don't plan on any major horsepower mods then yes.

It doesn't seem like a bad clutch, but I would go with a brand I've heard of before. I personally went with an Exedy stage 1 clutch and I'm happy with it. It costs about as much as that O'Reilleys one if memory serves right.
