2003 Build Plans

Hi There...2nd thread, other than my NooB introduction.
I just got a real nice '03 GT with only 80K on it, and leather interior.

I have already taken care of a small brake problem...the drivers side caliper was somewhat sticky. Then when I compressed the pistons back in, they both became very sticky.

So, off with the old calipers, rotors, pads, and hoses. On with the new. or in this case, because money was tight, on with the re-man stuff. Bad experience with the re-man crap from my local parts house, and next time, it will be all new, and upgraded to the Cobra set-up.

Build plans, and parts ordered.

Lowering springs, shocks, and struts.(2") 4X4 wheel opening clearance just has to go, and the sooner, the better!!!
CC plate kit
Bump Steer kit.
AM '03 Cobra chrome staggered wheel set, with tires, and black GT caps.
I am going with black lug nuts. I think they will pop nicely on the chrome. Anyone have an opinion on that? I would like to hear it.
Chin spoiler
New smoked headlights. Existing ones are new-ish, but one has an internal fogging problem
Hood struts

Once that is all done, it will go in for a Firestone lifetime alignment, then to Speedy for a new windshield...Its not cracked, but it has the old style wiper burn marks in it.

Then, money permitting, I will get a tuner, and start sucking all the power out of this motor I can, short of the real big bucks, like you know, forced induction. I would like to add about 130hp, and 100 lb/ft to the rear wheels, but short of FI, I dont see that happening....yet...hehehe

I do have one question...Bama, or Super Chips? I am new to the 4.6L Mustang community, and have some catching up to do.

A couple of pics for you, my old ride...just sold today(3/30), and the new '03 GT.

Yes, the LS is lowered, yes I am a Ford nut(someone shoot me now), yes it is exactly the same color, and yes, I will miss it allot

Good to know. Bolt on, or weld in?

Springs, struts, shocks, new calipers, hoses, rotors, and ceramic pads, bump steer, wheels & tires, smoked headlights, and chin spoiler...done.

I ran outta dough, so i did the camber bolts, and what do you know, it is within Ford alignment specs.

I know they are not the same diameter as the stock bolts, but the most this car will get is some spirited street time, on roads I know, so I am not too worried about them...

Loving it already, and the best part, my wife thinks its cool!

These are a couple of phone shots, and the car needs a good cleaning. If you dont believe it rains all the time in Seattle, stop fooling yourself, IT DOES. If you want a clean car everyday, you need to wash it everyday.

I say, too much work...

How much did they cost? I took the HIDs out of my car that were in it because it didn't have a high-beam setting. My smoked headlight covers are just too dark for halogens so I had to order some lighter headlight covers.

Go to eBay and search 9007 Bi-Xenon HID. My HIDs have low and hi beam

About $75 with shipping.(DDMTuning 55w 6000K, putting out 5000 lumens!). They are hi-lo, and work perfectly. some people say the hi's are useless on HID's, but not so. These are the type that change the angle of the bulb, and they work perfectly.

The wife and I played hooky today, and went to Leavenworth. Its about a 2 hour drive from Kirkland Wa., over Stevens Pass in Washington State. Cloudy on the west side, but before we got to the summit, it became sunny, and ultimately, was about 90 degrees on the eastern side of the beautiful Cascade mountains. For those not from Washington, Leavenworth is a "Bavarian" themed tourist town, in the Cascade foothills, and is absolutely beautiful, with themed shops, antiques, and lots to see, and do.

Saw this cute little rat rod parked in downtown, and had to snap a couple of pictures. Notice the push button auto shifter, on the dash...pretty cool.

Sadly, thats all the pics I took, even though the snow capped mountains were spectacular!

The only down side was I picked up a rock in my brand new windshield, and got a nice star chip, that in the heat, ultimately became an 8" crack...:\

I've only had the GT for about 6 weeks, and this is by far the longest road trip we've taken, and the car performed flawlessly. Totally lovin' it.
