Ok, I was in Barnes and Nobles today.....I was about to leave when I saw a USED Car magazine.....from consumer reports.

I quickly flipped to the Mustang....as I'm in the market of buying a 2001-2004 used Mustang....Mach or GT(I like the scoops better than 99 and 00).

Anyways they the 99 and 00 rated as good used cars. The 01 and 02 were average and the 03 was bad. ***

***The reason the 03 got a bad rating wasn't because it was bad, but fot the fact that unless your car is perfect in every aspect it gets an average or bad rating. CR said the Jeep scored well on 6 out of 8 catagories, but it got a bar rating as compared to the rest of the market it wasn't up to par.

So it looks like the others might be ahead of the Stang in the reliablilty deparment at first, but as time progesses the competition falls below the Mustang.

Why would older stang's have a better resale value points than an 03? I don't get it?

I think because the newer used cars probably have a story behind them, if you follow me.

If I understood the article correctly ...you pretty much had to be perfect after your first year to get a good rating.

Remember you're competiting with Lincoln, Cadillac, and Lexus I doubt any of those cars present problems after the first year. After a few years all the cars start presenting problems.

Example....maybe a Kia is perfect the first year(probably not), well we all know that the 9K car will eventually fall apart over the next couple years.

That's when the good and bad are TRULY separated.......right now they're all neck and neck, but after a few years the separation is easy.
