My buddy has a 2010 3.5L Altima Coupe. He wants to race after I break my new engine in.
How would I do? And please explain lol

.8 in a quarter mile is a big gap. If you have a 5 speed you should win Np if you can drive at all, on paper anyways.

you have more off line torque. even though peak torque is pretty close between the two, the stangs peak HP comes in much sooner. If you don't choke of the line and don't miss any shifts he won't catch you. remember torque wins races, just don't sleep at the start. Oh and how and did make out with your lifter issue?

I drained the 10w 40 and put 30w in it, runs great now. I was told that thinner oil is better when breaking it in.

Thinner oil is better for modular motors period. That's why they specify 5w-20

That Edmunds number is on the slow side. The new Altima 3.5s are pretty quick with a good driver. Low 14s are definitely possible. My guess is whoever gets the jump on the start is going to win.

yeah they are around mid 5 sec. 0-60 and agree on the 1/4. It will be a line race. The stang has the grunt to get him of the line but the Altima can rev, it will make some ground up but if he is on his marks the Altima will never make it up.

Be sure to line up at a sanctioned track and post up results.

And as always . . .

TMS does not advocate or promote street racing.

Everything is really a drivers race. For example in the aug 03 issue of 5.0. They did a shoot out with the Mach1, 99 Cobra, and a Bullit.

Numbers are as follow (all stock w/exception on new tires, springs and cai on the cobra). Mach1 0-60(4.70) 1/4 (13.19@106.7), Bullit 0-60 ( 5.15) 1/4 (13.59@102.4), Cobra 0-60 (5.25) 1/4 (13.62@105.2). I know the stock gt is lacking the 3:55's but the point is, its all a drivers race. Good luck and be safe out there.
