1996 ford mustang gt: taking gloss off of paint
i just recently painted a panel on my interior but it's too shiny i can see the a shadow on it, is their way to take the gloss off to blend in with the old paint?
Testor's Dullcoat sealer might work - it comes in an aerosol can and is available at most hobby shops. Be sure to paint and try it on some similar material before putting it on your interior as you might have to start over if you don't get the result you are shooting for.
Note that it is lacquer based; I have used it to seal acrylics and oils no problem, but other paints (like ones diluted with alcohol) will ruin the finish and turn it a pasty white. Lacquer dries slowly so I would apply a layer and be sure to wait a few hours to dry before you decide if another coat is needed.
Remember - it will look glossy when applied until it dries.
AS WITH ALL LACQUER-BASED PAINTS - USE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA!!!
