03' Cobra Wheel swap

My friend has recently purchased an 03' Cobra and has bought some aftermarket 18' by 9.5' wheels. They are made for 94-04 Mustangs but the wheelwell overlaps the tire!?! I'm kinda confused by all this and i probly would'nt reccomend putting spacers on the rear wheels. Could it be the offset? i'm kinda confused any ideas you guys n girls might have would be greatly appereciated

By wheelwells overlapping the tires, you mean the tires are sticking out too far?

im thinking he means the tire does not fill the wheel well. like he didnt get the right offset. unfortunately you have to get some serious wheels to fill the wells. i have 295/35/17 on the back of my 98 cobra and they arent quite flush with the wheel well. and the 99-04 are even wider. he would prob have to get atleast 315-335 to fill the back.

Hey there,

Its PROBABLY the offset.

Also - spacers arent a problem - as long as they are high quality spacers. Have a set of Maximum Motorsports spacers on the rear of my '99 Cobra so that I could push the wheels out wider (they kinda looked funny all tucked in the rear wheel wells from the factory). Gave the car a totally different look.

Sorry, i know what you mean now. And ya, properly spaced ive seen tons of 99-04s with 315s on the back on 17s. With 18s on a 9.5 rim and a little backspacing i couldnt imagine youd have any problems with 295s
