03-04 Cobra
I have heard of 03 Cobras built before a specific date (Cannot remember the date) expirencing a driver side head tick problem due to a cooling issue with the driver side head which causes the a valve guide to warp producing a ticking sound I know that if you call SVT they will tell you the build dates of concern, it is the ones that were first introduced. I also think there is a TSB out on this issue
Ultimately, the very earily 03's had the head-tick problem--if you chip or pully the SVT cobra it will void your engine warrenty if SVT finds out--I haven't had a problem with mine besides 03 Cobra internals are pretty tough, forged pistons /rods
steel crank and clevite race bearings throughout--so as long as you have the right tune and keep the engine cool you should be OK
I would not push 1000rwhp on the stock internals of an 03/04 cobra. Sure they are very capable motors, but at 700rwhp, i'd start looking at upgrading to some better pistons rods and crank. The block is good all the way up as far as I know, but the pistons at a certain point will be a weak link, even if they are forged. Ford didnt go all out with diamond CP pistons or anything, but they didnt go with the hypercrap stuff they normally use.
