V-6 POWER
There is a possibility I wont be able to get a new stang,
so I am wondering about the horsepower numbers on the v-6 model. My taures has 200hp. Do the 6s come with that? If not how hard and expensive would it be to hit those numbers?
If things dont work out Im thinking of getting a mid 90s 6 until I get the new P/U paid off and can buy a new stang. But im thinking I want something fun to drive untill then.

with an intake and an exhaust, going by what numbers the companies claim you get, you could run about 225 or so, on paper (definitely not rwhp, though).
I have raced a 96 gt on the freeway. I have a v-6 with an intake and exhaust (both by mac performance), and smashed him. big time. i work with the owner of the GT, and we decided to see. so i am sure we raced (my girlfriend critisizes me for 'racing' other mustangs, when the other driver didnt even know there was a race
)
So with a 6, it isn't HORRIBLY bad. the car can get you in enough trouble, as is!

I am with Chris. It is a fun little car to drive and will last you a few years of beating the heck on it and making it fun. I just bought mine (sig) and love it to death. Sure it isn't very very very fast, but it gets me from A to B in style and can beat many 6cyl out there. It has bump...so you won't be dissapointed in the giddy-up.
I say go for a 2002 or 2004 (no 2003, I heard there are many problems with those) V6 for about 3 years (enough to pay it off) and then go for the new pony! That's whaat I am doing anyway!
07 Cobra will be mine...that is a guarentee (sp?) I promise!

Yeah, I beat a 96-98 GT (wasn't sure exact year) in my '00 V6. In the car's defense it was an auto convertible. Anyway, a mustang with 193 hp will be faster than the taurus with 200 hp. As far a getting to 200 hp in a 99-04 V6, it's really easy. I pulled 180 to the wheels, which equates to a little more than 210 hp at the engine, when I only had a cold air intake, a bolt-on cat back exhaust, and a chip. Not to mention it was hot and humid on that day (just like every other day). Just don't expect to achieve what the manufacturers claim you'll get from bolt ons.

'96-'98 had 215 hp, right? :scratch:
