Tuners/chips

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this before...

I know the extra 100 bucks is for the convenience of the tuner, but is the $270 really worth it? How much power will it gain, and is there a sound difference? Let me know.

Id pay the extra hundred. Even though in the description is says you get free tunes for life with a tuner, this isnt exactly a tuner.

They should do exactly the same thing, so no power/sound difference. With the chip, you'll have to mail it in every time you want something changed, updated, or fixed...I'd spend a little extra and get the tuner, instead of a chip.

It probably says somewhere in that link. I'm guessing around 20hp give or take a little. I wouldn't imagine it sounds any different from stock though.

MosesTheMustang,

Stupidgenius said it perfectly. The chip will deliver the Same power/torque etc... This will depend on your mods, a stock V6 will pick up about 12-15 RWHP and 10-12 RWTWQ. However it's a little bit more of hassle when you need a re-tune. You'll have to send it back in so we can re burn your tunes to the chip then ship it back out to you!

If you're just going to tune your car and that's it, then a chip is for you. The additional benefits to the handheld tuner are minimal. The SF3 devices can check and clear CELs, Datalog and download tunes directly from your email etc..

Either way, you can't go wrong! Neither of these will really affect the "sound" of your Mustang. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!
