Sons Car Got Clobbered

My son just picked up a 2003 V6 Mustang about 4 weeks ago.

Now look at it. He was hit by someone it a big truck with a giant hook on the front.

Just waiting to find out what the insurance company is going to do.

jeez man! I'd be absolutely livid. body panel wise, it's repairable (though he did damage almost all possible panels), but there's almost no way that wheel and it's suspension hasnt been damaged

That is what I am worried about. The initial estimate is over $4900. But there is surely some damage that has not been found yet. The insurance company is still trying to decide liability because the officer on the scene did not issue any citations. I always assumed that if you were in a lane of traffic and someone pulls out of a fast food parking lot from the "enter only" side making a left turn across 3 lanes of traffic then they would be liable.

So, we are waiting and waiting while the car is completely out of commission.

This is horrible. I am sorry for you and your son. Did you find out what the insurance company is going to do yet?

The most important thing in life is your health, and as long as you boy's alright, then that is all that really matters. Cars can be replaced, but people can't.

The car is probably a total loss, because not only did he hit the only part of the car, other than the roof, that is part of the unibody, but he also probably did a number on the suspension too. That is right by where the chassis side lower control arm mount is located.

It could have been a lot worse, and as much as I hate saying it, it's just a car.

They came back 50/50, which is a joke. They put me off a couple of more days, and I finally turned it over to my insurance which is just getting into it. I did get a call on Friday from the other guys insurance and they supposedly had finally taken a look at the car. They changed their view of liability to 70/30. I still think this is unacceptable, but am waiting to talk to my insurance on Monday to see what my options are. Thanks for all of the posts. My son seems to be doing well, at least physically. He is still really hot about the whole thing. He didn't even have the car long enough to get rid of the temporary plates.

That '01 bullitt sure looks nice. I hope to get some sort of resolution this next week. Then I guess we start looking seriously to see if we can start again. Now that the recession is over (HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!) we should be able to afford something again.

I wouldn't settle for that 70/30 at all. may 95/5 but that would be a stretch also.

Those have got to be some of the most callous insensitive comments that can be made to someone who has just been victimized by an inattentive or out right reckless driver, and had their car destroyed.

I am quite sure people that spew this crap have never had a special car destroyed by some inattentive moron.

"Well The earth didn't come to an end so quit your crying and *****ing about your stupid car and get on with your life."

The worse part about this is you think your offensive comments are helpful, you don't even realize you have a callous attitude toward the sufferings of others.

It could be a lot better too! The dumb *** who hit the innocent victims car could have payed more attention and been a better driver too.

Sure you life is important, but that fact, you being all right doesn't magically remove your attachment to or the importance of your car.
[/RANT]

When the stupid department of transportation guy kept saying that to me on the scene of my accident, I told him to shut his mouth and not say it again or I would knock him on his ***.

People Please!

looking at it like that I have to agree, that car was probably one of the biggest moments in a teens life and some jerkie messed it up on him...... he will get another one and he will be alright
