My car is a 2002 V6 mustang and I am constantly getting shocked when I close the door or touch the body. Mainly it happens after I have drove it for a while and then I get out and close the door. Also when I go to open the door it happens as well.

Does this happen to you guys also?

Let me know if this is normal or not.

Thanks,

This happened to me on my 98 hardtop. What I think was the problem was that I installed neon pettles and I don't think i had it grounded right; that is why it shocked me. It could be anything like that, say an amp or even foglights. Something that you would have to ground to the car.

Also, if you are wearing rubber soled shoes, when you change gear, the soles of the shoes generate static with the carpet / mats, and then it shocks you when you get out!. I just try to not touch the metalwork when I get in / out.

The best to prevent from getting zapped, is to hold onto the metal of the car (door?) before you put you foot down on the ground.

This hapens to me in my 97 T-Bird (usually only in the winter). Sooo iritating. Makes it worse, when I know to do the touching of metal first, but keep forgetting.

(SemoTony) - That could be the case I installed the foglights and I will check my ground. Also I installed sequential tail lights but that was just plug and play. Thanks for the ideas.

(jgsmuzzy mr-mstng) - I will try your suggestions also in the meantime. It is very irritating to know that everytime I get in or out of the car I get shocked. Thanks for the tips.

Or, have the GF open the door for you.
