Rear Speakers...
#1
Just wondering if anyone knew off hand (I'm at work, looking at buying some Infinity KAPPA speakers) where the rear speakers are? I looked really fast during a 'water cooler break', but I didn't see them on the doors in the back or on top? all I saw was the child restrant system, where might these bad boys be located so I can change them out?
Thanx

Hmmmm, I popped the trunk and saw the magnets down there sticking out. So I am assuming there's no speaker cover in the back, just the basic plastic piece, that once again I am assuming you take off to get to them?!

Check, not sure if you have bolts on top, but you should be able to just take off the nuts holding the speaker up and it will drop into your hands. Get in there and really give it a close look you should see 4 nuts holding the speaker up if they are bottom mounts, if they are top mounts then you have to take off the grill and remove them that way.. Any of you guys can correct me if I'm wrong.. It's been a while since I've had a coupe but that was how it was on the last one I drove

Yes you remove them from inside hte trunk.

SO then if I'm not mistaken, it's just 4 nuts on each and they drop in your hands...and you can just do a quick swap...

Yeah I was thinking that as well...but I honestly have no iea what to get?
I know for a fact:
-I want the 6CD changer
-Got Infinity KAPPA series speakers all the way around
But other than this, I have no idea what tweeters and what subs (enclosures) to get...so lost!

after market is going to sound better than anything the factory has or will ever put in a car. Not just ford, just about any car manuf.
In a hardtop stang, what I recommend for a jammin', not budget breaking, great sounding system is:
Headunit: Pioneer DEH-P7600MP
Front Speakers: Infinity Reference 6800cs 5x7 components
Rear Speakers: Kicker K57 5x7 2-way speakers - good speakers for the price, specially for rear deck where quality isnt quite a noticable as the front components.
Now I would run the front and rear speakers off the built in amp in headunit to save money. Will sound good as is, but you can get a 4-channel amp to run these if you want. More money and more wiring. Your call.
For the trunk and bass help, it depends on what you want and what you listen to.
For Rock and some Rap, where you want the subs to be able to handle heavy loads down low and sustain a constant low beat. Kicker Solo-Baric L7 S10L74
Run 2 of these. Little bit more pricey and you can put as much power as you want to them. 2 of these will hold whatever amp you want. I suggest: Kicker SX1250.1. You can run a smaller cheaper amp.
For Rock music, or techno that has alot of quick bass hits and covers a wide range of sounds my favorite subs are:
Kenwood KFC-W2509. These are cheap 10" subs, but they hit fast and hard and have a great sound quality tothem.
Dont require much power, but I would run this amp with them to get the best quality: Kicker SX650.1

oh and you can get a 6-disk changer that will work with your headunit like this: Pioneer CDX-P680
Also as an FYI: Dont pay attention to those prices.. start doing some searchs on Ebay for these parts and it will be alot cheaper.

WOW...Thanks Scotthew...some great info. I will be looking into that sub and tweeters/speakers. I already bought a MACH 6 CD changer from someone on the net, before I read this, so I will stick with that for a while!
