Porting and polishing heads

I work at my girlfriends family machine shop. Her dad tells me I can port and polish my heads, he said I just port inside to match outside with the gasket. And I thought about getting a cam. And porting my intakes. But will all this need a tune?

A tune wouldn't be required but it would help, depending on what cam you get. The computers in 99-04s isn't as picky about airflow changes compared to say the 05-09.

depends on the cam, if you have driveability issues then you may need to tune. becareful on the gasket matching, pay more attention to the exhaust ports becareful how much you go at it on the intake side you can kill your low end. there is more to it than just opening things up and you can make junk heads quickly.
