Plugs and wires

Can anyone help me im a new mustang owner and my car is now havimg teuble starting sometimes so im going to replace the plugs and wires that is wat the shop said the problem was I got the stuff just dont know how hard it is going to be

What's the year and engine in your car? There are generation specific forums on the site that you can find alot of information readily available.

I have never done plugs on a V6, but have done the V8s many times. Can't be THAT differen't....it's pretty easy. Here's a quick run down off the top of my head.

Tools-8mm socket(may be wrong size), 3/8 ratchet, 6" extension, 9/16 spark plug socket-or a regular deep well 9/16 socket, Anti-sieze(optional), dielectric grease(optional but recommended), plug gap tool.

Car off, brake on, use gloves(optional), be safe.

Use 8mm* socket to loosen bolt on COP(Coil over plug), pull up on COP to remove it and expose plug. You can dissconnect wire to COP and fuel rails for more room if they are in way. You can do one at a time or all of one side, up to you.

Next you can spray a small shot of carb cleaner and let it set for 15 minutes to make removing easier, you don't have to but I'm paranoid from the crappy '05-'07 plugs lol.

Use the 9/16 with 6" extension to remove the plug that is down the hole that was covered by the COP. Normal thread, turn counter clockwise to remove.

Check the new plugs for proper gap, you will have to look this up, for the GTs it was around 0.054. Be extremely careful not to damage plug!

Put a THIN layer of anti-seize on thread/base of new plug(OPTIONAL).

Put new plug into hole and turn clock-wise to tighten, DO NOT over tighten the plug! Hand tight and then 1/16th of a turn will be about where you need it torqued to(about 14lbs/ft).

Put dielectric grease in the tip of the COP, the part that goes back on the spark plug. This is optional but makes it easier to go back on, and repels water.

Put COP back on by pushing down on it. Reconnect any wires you took off, and repeat 6-8 times.

The plugs on the GT were fairly easy to get to, but I do dissconnect the passenger side fuel rails for more room. Hope this helps.

Just fyi ...
Go stock dont let anyone talk you into getting so called performance plugs/wiring/coils they dont do anything and ppl that build 500+ hp 6's use the factory ones 98 percent of the time

Plugs are pretty easy on the six. You will need a swivel and extensions for the back plugs. Just change them one at a time. You will prob have to remove the intake to get the ones on the passenger side. if the wires dont come with di electric grease, spend a dollar or two and get some.
