odometer stopped working?
odometer stopped working?
hey guys on my 98 v6 mustang my mileage counter and trip counter both stopped working, any ideas? i havent a clue since its not like the old ones on a cable? anyway any leads would be appreciated thnx bb
Do you have the digital or analog odometer?
If it is analog then it is a common problem for the plastic odometer gears to wear out. The odometer is driven by an electric motor. When I did my 97 Mustang dash swap into my 84 Tbird I had to repair the odometer so that it would work. The good news is the replacement gear that I bought is a harder material and should not have to be replaced again. There is a place in Newport News, Virginia that sells these improved gears where I got mine from. Here is the link:

It's also easy enough to replace yourself...
Problems with digital odometers may have to be taken it to where instrument cluster repairs are done. I have not had one of those apart to see how they function exactly.
