How to take an aftermarket stereo out of a 98

How do you take an aftermarket stereo out of a 98... I got a new deck for christmas because this old one i have now sucks... I just want to know how to get it out... Here are pics of what it looks like

You might have to take the housing that goes around the radio and AC/heat controls off, but I may be wrong.

Well those gauges are silliconed to that housing with a cardboard thing but the middle is fiber glass... My dad made it from extra supplies...

You need the two key looking things to slide in on each side of the unit to release it from the metal frame that is around it and slide it out. Try the ones that came with your new head unit.

They should slide in that gap between those to center tabs in this pic...





When it slides into that frame, it snaps in, the two keys will press in on the little tab back there in the side of the head unit. You may have to pull to the outsides a little with them to push those in while pulling straight out at the same time.

You mean this? Which end goes in and i tried to do it one day and i didnt hear a click i take it the small end goes in

Yes the small end. You're not going to hear a click, the tabs on the side of the head unit just flex in and out. You slide the keys in there, pull slightly outward left and right, while pulling straight out at the same time.

Put your new head unit into the casing that came with it, and use the keys to take it back out. That will give you an idea of what you are trying to do with the old one you're trying to remove.

Got it out... My anntenna was barly in the antenna slot.... Lol
