Ok so i know that putting different gears into your car will put you into the power band faster and such, but i keep hearing about this posi-track and a t-lok.....I know the car i am going to get doesnt have positrack, but what is the deal with the t-lok? and will i need one if i switch gears to like a 3.73? my soon to be car is a 1999 auto v6 and i just dont know a lot about it. could someone please help decipher what the deal is here? I would also like to know about, if i do wind up with say 250 to 300 horses (as hard as it may be) will i have to get a new rear end for it or anyting like that? thanks for your help!

T-lock is just something that makes both of your back tires spin at the same time versus an open axel that comes stock on the v6's with one tire spinning at a time. It is not a necessity but definitely a lot more fun. With the debate about a new rear end or not, I am pretty sure that the stock rear end which is 7.7"?? (correct me if i'm wrong) should be able to handle the power. If not you could switch to a 8.8" rear end which comes stock on all other non v-6 mustangs. Also as far as the gears themselves, the most recommended gears for an auto is 4.11 as manuals are 3.73's.

cool thanks again, do the new gears mess with your speedometer though? or do you have to get it all re-calibrated afterwards?

Yeah good point, they do affect the speedometer, however with a programmer you can easily calibrate it and also you can buy a new calibrator for the speedometer for specific gear ratios.
