Hey im looking to swap out he 3.8L in my 2000 convertible. I was wondering if i should go with a 302 from a foxbody or a 4.2L from an f150. Which would be a better/cheeper option?

The 302 will give you more power and potential, but its a good amount more work. The 4.2 is not much different then the 3.8, mainly the crank. You could swap cranks and make you 3.8 a 4.2. Its very common to do.

You could find 4.6 motors online from a gt for a decent price and a lot of the ones I have seen come with the pcm makes the swap real easy

How much would you guess the 4.6 would cost and it would nearly be a direct swap right? I could reuse my tranny in my car with it?

I haven't done the swap myself but I imagine its a direct swap cause its the same frame body style and I have seen 4.6 motor online anywhere from 500 to 1200 with the ecu

To put a 4.6 into a V6 car requires changing the K member to a 96-04 GT K member

Put forged internals in the 3.8 and turbo it. Otherwise sell it and buy a GT.

I have been thinking on buying a gt, but this car has a lot of sentimental value to me so i kinda dont wanna sell it.

Best bet is forged 4.2 internals in the 3.8 block and turbo it then. Swapping in a V8 into those cars is pita.
