I am looking into purchasing a K&N air filter for my 1995 convertible muzzy. I was wondering if i should spend a little bit more to get the kit if its worth it, or just stick with the filter. Also, how much will i be looking to spend?

I believe the filters run about $50, and the kits run $150. The kit contains the filter, and intake tube from air box to throttle body. The filter may net you a couple of hp, and a little better gas mileage. You probably wont pick up more than 1 or 2 more hp by going to the intake kit unless more of your air delivery path is upgraded as well. (ie, intake, throttlebody, maf) If you plan on doing alot more engine an performance related mods, the get a kit. If not just buy the filter.

I would just stick with the filter. You really won't notice a difference between the FIPK and the filter without other mods such as a larger TB, perfomance chip, or better intake. The filter is definetley a good idea though for any vehicle!

as andy said with the TB though to get the full response out of it your best bet would be to to your upper manifold with a port-match for the 70mm or whatever size you'd go for. as for the KN FIPK it gives you the open filter which would of course mean more air and the tube doesnt have any ribs in it which means smoother and better air flow but wont add more then a few hp tops.

I would suggest getting the complete intake system, and then getting a true dual exhaust system. But not more than 2 1/4" pipe unless you plan on some major engine work including a forced air induction system. You'll like the performance gains with a better breathing system, the look of having two exhaust tips coming out the back, and you'll love the sound of the intake and the exhaust together.... much more aggressive.

Thats a nice idea but I think he was looking to keep it relatively cheap per se.

as for exhaust its all preferance but for install on an intake system is pretty easy acually. anybody can really install it. Its all a matter of ( with the KN Fipk ) bolting up the MAF to the heatshield and 2 cupplers. very easy. i got my KN intake system for 200 through CarDomain.com

If ya want to go cheap, but want a good sounding exhaust, then try MAC Performance. They have a dual setup that bolts right onto your stock y-pipe. It's costs around 300, but there are some places you can get it for less.

Picking up my car today from the body shop going to start to make some more phone calls thanks for the help guys! The exhaust is mainly for sound tho right it doesn't make a big noticable difference does it?

^ exhaust helps more in the long run to help everything flow better same with a cold air intake. the stock exhaust is way too restrictive
