Brake calipers

Anyone else having problems with their brake calipers on Fords?

I either have a really bad luck or my local Ford dealership doesn't know what they're doing.

I had the same problem on my 3 Fords ... It's always calipers getting stuck and damaging both pads and rotors.

It happened on my 2005 F-150 at 20,000 miles.
I had to change it on my 2005 Focus at 107,000 miles when I bought it.
Now it happened on my 2000 Mustang for the 3rd time at 78,000 miles (first time at 25,000, second time at 55,000 miles and now).

All work and maintenance, with the exception of oil changes, was done at the Ford's dealership.

I'd say bad luck, I did replace the front brake calipers last year, but after 110,000 miles and only the driver side one was bad. My dad had a 02/03 focus, and at 200,000 mile didn't have any issues except for a rear ball bearing IIRC.
I don't know, wish I could be of more help.

I've not had a problem with mine. Maybe the seals around the brake fluid chamber is letting in gunk and they're getting clogged?

Does sound like the caliper in my old Grand Cherokee though, front left would stick and it was a ***** trying to get it to unstick. Fortunately because I'm easy on the brakes, it never stuck really hard on the brakes, just enough to get the car to pull.

I'm not sure what is causing the problem; Ford's dealership always tells me that calipers got stuck and then damaged both pads and rotors. And they're pretty expensive to replace.

My Camry was almost 20 years old with over 200,000 miles when I sold it and I never had to replace calipers or rotors - just pads.
So far I have no problems with brakes on the Fusion after 60,000 miles.

My 2004 V6 mustang had the same problem with the calipers. My drivers' side rear caliper got stuck and wore down to the metal and the right side wasn't even engaging. I took it to a shop that replaced both of them but a month later it started making a squeaking noise again.

Looks like most of calipers have a lifetime warranty or at least that's what Auto Zone said. I replaced mine over the weekend. So its nice to know that at least I don't have to buy calipers again, but I will have to buy rotors and pads that gets damaged by the calipers ...
