American muscle CAI

I just purchased a CAI for my 2004 v6 3.8 automatic mustang. I just noticed that my receipt says it fits a '99 through '03 and I'm wondering of this intake will fit my car. It's the one made by American muscle and it was around $70. Please let me know, if not so I can return it. Thanks.

I looked at some other brands of CAI and they all say 99-04. I cant imagine that American Muscle makes one that is that much diffrent. I would Install it to make sure it fits, if not then send it back. let us know how it works out for you.

The receipt says its a 99-03 but the web page says 99-04. I'm sure that if I print the web page today and keep the receipt. They won't have a problem refunding if it doesn't fit. They told me when I made the purchase that I could not return an installed part but seeing as to how they put that online I don't think theyll deny me a refund. I hope it does fit though I'm super excited. Should I switch the generic filter it comes with with a K&G if so why? And I it that much different?

I have an American Muscle CAI on my 96 v6 and a BBK on my 02, the diffrence that I noticed is the AM intake whistles and the BBK does not. I figured it was due to the open end on the AM filter.

U should put a small breather filter on the hole. I got one at AutoZone for $10. I assume that's what your talking about right? Mine doesn't whistle at all. Also, if there's a hole in your CAI you might want to either plug it or put a filter because that bad air might mess up your engine

The end of the filter, in the metal cap, has an opening. It is kind of like a reverse cone filter in the opening. My BBK has a solid metal cap on the filter. When I give it gas (AM V6) I can hear it whistle as it sucks in air. It is not loud, but it is there.

I have the same one from AM. It says 99-03 because in 04 they had a 3.9L v6 option as well. If you look at most engine parts for 99-04 you'll find they say only to 03 but they still fit on a 04 if its the 3.8L. But in all honesty I'm not sure how much different the 3.9L is anyways.

There is no difference between any of the 3.8's put in the Mustangs. They are all the same. And the 3.9 is no different either. Dont know why it became a 3.9 but its all the same.
