1998 V6 odometer stopped working

1998 V6 odometer stopped working
The odometer and trip counter stopped working on my niece's V6 Mustang. Has anyone else experienced this. Do Sn95s have a speedo cable like the earlier foxes or is it electrically driven. Speedometer is working and so is cruise control as far as I know.
