will it work

ok guy.the big tax return is coming any day and i got some purchases planned.i just want to make sure im getting the right stuff.i have a 88 306 with b303 cam.i plan on putting the trickflow 170s on there with 1.72 roller rockers 6.75" pushrods and a weiand stealth intake.

first off the instruction for the heads say recommended pushrod length is 6.75".i just wanted to verify if any one u are running these pushrods with these heads.they cost 100$ and i would hate to buy them if i dont need them.also does anyone know where to get a good deal on them?ive checked most major parts suppliers.

i also want to verify that using the 1.72 rr would be ok with these heads.they do say .540 lift.but i know there is other factors.with the 1.72s i will be approximately .516 lift .i just want to make sure if A they will work and B if i still need to check piston to valve clearance.

next would the stock size gasket set work even though i am poked .030 over?i believe a stock gasket set would have at least an extra .015" clearance for the slightly bigger bore.i am only wanting to go this route because it is cheaper to use the stock size gasket because full sets arent really available for the 4.030 bore.i would have to purchase the necessary gaskets seperatley.

thanx

No one should really tell you that no you will not have PTV but there are alot of known combos that don't, it is very easy to check it though. duration vs lift would be the main cause for PTV. you should be okay with teh B cam but always if unsure check it don't go my word. I would check pushrod length with a tester 1st then order the correct length, you can get testers here or just about any other place you want...

I would recommend going full trick flow. Heads, cam, and intake. Contacting trick flow and telling them your configuration should be the way to tell pushrod length.

Those top end kits are nice.but I'm already setup for carbed.they don't really have a carbed intake for me.plus I don't really feel like pulling the cam.it is pretty new.but thanx for your input.

Cool man. I'm sure trick flow still has a tech support line or an email address that can help you with pushrod length. They will just need to know what heads and rockers. I would also go for 2.02 valves. Don't worry about combustion chamber size. 56 or 58cc heads will not benefit you as much and the big valves will. Compression in a 302 is not what will add power. Big valve flow will give you more power. Even if it's a 60+cc head.

They also said the 1.72 rr will work but still check PV clearance.
Thanx for the input everyone.

They look good man. Hope you see a lot of improvement from them.
Did you convert your car to carb or did you buy it that way?

I bought it that way.I would not do myself or recommend the conversion but it has grown on me so I'm happy.

the motor is actually pretty fresh.i pulled the head the other day and the piston had barely any carbon build up on it.i was able to wipe with a rag and make the piston look brand new.i only bought the car for 500$ about 3 years ago.the motor was pretty much slapped in there.i spent lots of hours cleaning up the conversion. there were wires and vacuum lines everywhere.i just got it on the road a few monhs before winter so i actually havent drove it alot.but i did have the carb tuned very well.right before i pulled the head it was only like 15* out and it fired up on the first click after not even being started in weeks.so needless to say i like being different and the carb now kinda has some sentimental value to me.it also makes for a cleaner engine bay.

Here is a couple more pics of the accessory brackets I painted while I had them off.I used Dupli-color engine enamel.I wasn't impressed with the way it sprayed, but I think that was because the paint is very thick.but over all very impressed with the end results.I clean the parts very well and now they look new.
