Me too, but mine was not a cobra. I used the inheritance from my Grandpa to buy a 76 Mustang (in 1990). Crappy car, but I loved it and have many stories from it.

I sold it when I left for college. I came back two months later for Thanksgiving break and saw my car on the side of the road. I recognized the broken front grill. So I guess I got rid of it in time. Of course, I put my fair share of money into my mechanics pocket to fix that one. But I learned a lot from that mechanic. He would show me everything he did. Then apologize if it took longer than a few hours to fix something.

My pops took me home from the hospital when I was born in his red 65 stang with a 289... It was my destiny to own mine!

way back two months ago was my first ride in one. i kno, i was such dedicated stang lover already, but unfortunately my ride wasnt too exciting. for starters it was an '04 V6 rental. and #2, my overly straightlaced mother was driving.... she's not a big fan of loud fast cars.... but it was fun nonetheless.

This is real cool topic, and brings back some great memories. The first mustang that I was able to drive was a new 1983 Burgundy Mustang GT that my dad ordered for me in my Junior year of high school. I think he kinda bought it for both of us. I could never thank my parents enough for that. it was a dream come true. It was a beautiful car to me. That deep burgundy color with the black across the hood, with red interior and a 4 speed manual. That 173 HP that she produced felt like 500HP to me.

We kept the car for 4 years when we ordered a black 1987 GT that I was going to pay for myself. The sad part of this wonderful story is that the 1987 GT came in two weeks after my father passed away. It was a very sad time for me and my family. I only kept the 1987 GT for eleven months, and traded it for a 1988 Jeep Wrangler which I kept for years. The mustang just brought to many sad memories.

It was not until the new mustang concept was introduced that I once again had the Mustang bug. The rest is history, I have the Mustang bug now more than ever. When I am out alone taking the 05 for a drive, there are times when I feel Dad is in the passenger seat smiling along with me. He was a Ford man through and through...............he would be proud. We love our Mustangs, they come and they go, cherish those moments with your parents

My best friend's dad had a '74 Mustang II. It was a V6 auto. I remember we floored it for about 6 miles and finally got it up to 90mph when we hit the downhill. My '74 Valiant V8 could do that in second on an uphill.

Got a ride in a 1989 GT with a my friend's sisters boyfriend. He was showing off to my friend and I and put the car sideways, spinning the tires past our small town cop-shop, I was hooked. This was early in 1998; in november 1998 I bought my own - 1989 GT; first one I bought and drove - will never sell it.

my first time in a mustang was when my grandparents were visiting. they had a 1984 Mustang L hatchback. I was only a little kid then so I didnt really get hooked then but I got hooked later when my dad later bought this car from them. I now get to drive it!! of course its only a 3.8L but I sure have a fun time driving it!

My first Stang ride was in 1966, Dad brought home a used '65 coupe (6cyl. auto) I was not quite old enough to drive it. Later drove it when I got 16, I was only 14 when he bought it.

My first stang to buy and own was 1969 Mach 1, had been wrecked, I was 17 and had good job for that time.
Had the car repaired, but it never was right, too much floorpan damage.

First new purchased Stang - 1982? LX 5.0 hatch. had the screaming 2BBl motor.
Have had so many after that I can keep up with them all.

first time I ever drove any kind of Mustang was a few years back I drove a friend's '95 v6, then he got a 99GT Roush clone and I drove that, then he got an 03 Cobra and I drove that also. Got my '90GT in Jan. of '05 and I don't have plans to ever sell it.

that 00 V6 auto may have been my first ride, but my first drive happens to be my current '76 cobra II funnest car ive ever driven. i learned to drive stick on it too, and its soooo fun. i despise driving the other cars now bec they're all automatic. i love this thing, and i hope to be able to hold on to it forever

ive learned alot from this car too, from a mechanical perpesctive. just taking things off in the engine compartment, cleaning them up a bit, and sticking them back on is fun for me. and now that it has duals glasspacks and side exhaust, its even MORE fun to drive.

and being such a light car, it doesnt matter to me that the 2.8L V6 makes a hair over 100hp or so, it feeeeels fast and thats what counts lol. i know im not going to win any races (although that '56 bug has been tempting me lately....) but its a blast to drive. plus, unlike a plethora of HS kids with fast/cool cars, i paid for it all the way, which makes it even more important to me.

dont knock the IIs

When I was 14 my sister let me drive her 1974 Mustang II around the block. It was a real dog (2.3L C3 auto) but it sure was a pretty car! (medium bright blue metallic/blue vinyl interior) But what hooked me was a car her boyfriend had, a 69 Mach One 428 CJ 4-speed a sweet ride! Acapulco Blue with Black vinyl interior.

When I was growing up in Staten Island , NY Our dream driveway from 1968-1970 was a 1968 Camaro and my Aunts 1965 Mustang convertible. In 1975 I got to drive (put into drive and pull up a few feet) My Aunts brand new 1975 Mustang II. I was only 11, but it was thrilling. When I was 16 I bought a very used and abused 1971 Mustang sportsroof, it was my first car and I got it a month after I got my license. I paid $300 for it. I'm now on Mustang number 4, I had a '73 coupe with a 351c, and a '92 LX 4 cyl beater I bought in 1993, and My current project, a '92 LX 5.0 Convertible... Chris

my first ride was in an 89 white lx hatch that had been lowered, geared, and had a little motor work. that was in my high school days, like fall of 1999. Funny thing is, I was in a psychology class, and we had a project to do. I don't exactly remember what the project had to be about, but I do remember that the guy who owned the car and myself titled our project Chevy vs. Ford in the General Population. So we video taped ourselves taking votes from random people about which they preferred, and then we did a little test drive on our video with his car! Man, those were the good ole days. Got it up to like 120, I was in the back seat filming, and got some footage of power-braking and getting it sideways on a backroad. Of course at the time, I was a tried and true Chevy fan, like the rest of my family, but that day changed everything for me! Now I own a 1993 reef blue ex-police notch 5.0 5-speed. What a killer car. I just got it and I hope to never get rid of it.

WOW...i was 7 and my dad took me out on his lap in our '92 5.0 Auto LX Notch...charcoal gray...black interior...he used to let me sit on his lap whenever we drove it and steer it into the driveway and garage...WITHOUT ANY HELP!!!!!...man......that car was supposed to be mine but he sold it after not even a year because they couldn't afford 3 cars at the time...had less than 6k miles on it...he's a cop so he tracked the VIN from owner to owner...few years later ended up with a salvaged title and no-one has been paying the registration for YEARS...wish we could find it and restore it...and go figure...for the last 3 years we had FOUR cars...his '98 F150....mom's '03 Focus ZX5 Power Premium...my '00 V6....and my old '95 Contour which they kept around to keep insurance down..ended up giving it away tho...i MISS that Notch though...
