What's the big deal about 347 Strokers being garbage? Pics and info in post
I've only heard most of these rumors from a few jealous (they'd never admit it's jealously, but most of them complain anytime I talk about buying or building something or anything, usually anything they cannot have, that's why I say it's jealously....), moronic co-workers and the random occasional jackass online talking about 347 Strokers are complete garbage and anything over 400hp @ the crank, will case the block to break completely in half???
So, I've been talking to a 60+ year father/son engine building business, about building me a 347/425hp engine, with a new 5 speed TKX trans, for my newly acquired 88 Coupe. Prices are pretty much like the rest of the prices out there, if you want to pay for quality, rather than junk and that's exactly what I would want! The builder said that this is a stock 302 block, but he could use a Dart block, if I wanted, but it might change the price slightly, which I might be ok with?
This car/engine is not going to ever be dragged or street raced and will never have any nitrous sprayed into it, just to make things clear of what I'm asking.
I just want a nice little hot rod Mustang, that would have plenty of power on demand, along with the necessities of A/C and PS, that would be a great weekend cruiser.
I'm sure there will be many mixed opinions about this, but I'm just looking for honest answers from people that have ran them and not beat the hell out of the engine?
Here's a pic that will look similar to the one I'm wanting and all the specs are under it, (excluding Dart specs):
Live run, test engine, set initial timing advanceand IAC readings
Blue printed, balanced, assembled by ASE technicians
Serpentine Black Pulley kit with Sandon AC Compressor with fittings, Type II power steering pump and 140Amp 1 wire Alternator
Clutch Kit, Bell-housing, Fork, High Torque Starter Installed and Aligned
TKX 5 Speed Transmission shipped separately with Engine
They're going to keep me updated with pictures and info/specs throughout the next 6 months or so (that's how long I told them to give me to pay off the remaining balance)
