tire question

I have 27/10/15 Hoosier wrinkle wall slicks. I mounted them on some 8" rims. They ballooned really bad. I was under the impression you could use a minimum of 8" wide rim with a 10" tire. My rims have 5.5" backspacing. And because of the balloon I can't get them to bolt up. They measure nearly 12" side wall to side wall. I can probably massage my inner fender.

But the question is, is it worth it? Am I gonna be able to drop the pressure low enough to get good traction?

Here is a pic. If you want a better one, let me know.

No dude. It's a thin walled tire. If they rub at all they may explode. Don't do it. Get a narrower tire. Even the 8" tire will hook.

Well darn. They were freebies. I can probably get them to not rub with a bfh. You still think I shouldn't if I get them clearanced?

On an 8" rim y ou are really better off with an 8.5 slick....the 10 is just too wide with the sidewall as you have found out. Not worth the risk considering what could happen at speed with a blowout.

No problem man. 100mph blow out on a slick is scary stuff. Don't risk it.
