Did any of the Foxes come stock with a 2.55 in them? The guy i bought the car from said thats whats in it, and he's a mechanic at the GM dealer down the road from my house. I didnt ask if he put it in himself or not. I know they came with 2.73, and i think he would know what hes talking about, i just never heard of anyone swapping taller gears into a fox before. Itll hit about 185kph (115mph) in 3rd gear, so the gears feel pretty tall to me.

He said his best time in it was a 14.6 (@97mph i think), but that's at 4000ft elevation here in Cowtown. I thought the 1/4 would be lower. O, the tires were 225s too.

Anybody know what I could expect with 3.73 and some Nitto 255 width?

I've never heard of a 2.55 ring and pinion in a fox but it may be true. I have factory optioned 3.08s in mine.

Those were only 5 spd options, but I believe automatic cars came with 3.27's

Ya, thats what i thought too. So could 115mph be done in 3rd with 2.73s? Cause the gears seem really really tall to me.

The speedo is on, i ran it with my cousins 95GT, and they were the same. I know his is right cause the cops told him so.

Theres no way theyre 3.55s tho. Dont know what came in the 95 5.0s, but again against my cousin i was shifting into 3rd the same time he was going to 4th and hes got stock gears in that. Very strange situation.

Wheres SVOPaul when you need him?

All Foxes that had an 8.8(86-93) came with 2.73 gears standard....a 3.27 gear was optional for the automatic and the 3.08 gear was optional for the 5 speed cars. There is no such animal as a 2.55 gear. The highest I have ever seen was out of a Lincoln Versailles which had a 9" rear and it was a 2.47 gear. But Foxes never came with anything higher than a 2.73 and I have never seen or heard of any gear higher than that for the 8.8 or 7.5 rear end.

That was awesome, 7min response time! Good to know, i wonder whats in it then? I guess i'll have to wait till it gets opened up for the 3.73 which probably wont be till spring.

Ya, i know a lot of them arent accurate at high speeds. As stated earlier, i know his is accurate cause the cops tagged him doin about 120 and thats what he said his speedo was at.

not the best way to find out your speedo is accurate at 120 i guess i could push mine harder and might get there. i have the 3.08 gears from the factory. i normally dont rev over 4500-5000 on the street. but i have hit 6500 a couple times playing with a vette
