SPEC Clutch - Stage 2 or 3?
I think I'm going to get either the Stage 2 or the Stage 3 SPEC clutch. The engine is a 331 with close to 300 RW Torque (with the clutch slipping the entire time) so I'm not sure what Max RW Torque is... let alone knowing what Max flywheel torque is.
I don't think I really need the Stage 3, but is there any reason NOT to just get it for an extra $18? The tech at SPEC said there was no difference in pedal feel for Stages 1, 2, and 3.
I can get the Stage 2 for $287.10 shipped, and SPEC says the following about them:
Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Pulling, Autocross
For all mild to moderately modified naturally aspirated and power adder engines. (Also good for stock power levels and spririted driving when good daily drivability and extremely long life are the goal.) Stock-like daily drivability and EXCELLENT wear characteristics.
High clamp pressure plate, pure Kevlar friction material and high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.
Or, I can get the Stage 3 for $305.10 shipped, and SPEC says the following about them:
Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Drift, Road Race, Rallye, Pulling, Autocross
For heavily modified street and race engines. Offers sufficient daily drivability with a comfortable pedal feel and quick engagement. Offers good wear characteristics under low and high stress usage.
High clamp pressure plate, 4 or 6 puck carbon semi-metallic friction with high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit. 6 puck is standard on most applications, but 4 puck can be specified when ordering.
Thanks for any input.

I've heard very contrasting opinions on the stage 3, some say its a great street clutch while others said it was to harsh. I don't think you want a puck style clutch for street use and since you're only making about 300 torque you should be fine with the stage 2, even my stage 1 is rated for 410 ft.lbs. And when they say "quick engagement" that means it grabs quick which is nice at the strip, but sucks in traffic since its more like an on/off button rather than being able to feather it.

Thanks for the input. Is that why they say the Stage 2 has "stock-like daily drivability" because it doesn't have that "quick engagement"?
