New to this building a car
Gears just like sampey43 stated, best bang. digging into the motor can come later. Next sub frame connectors are always on at the top of my list then a good exhaust. go over the car and get a general idea of its health, stuff like the suspension, brakes, etc.
later a good budget top end build would be a GT40 set up form an explorer and a cam of your choice. The trick flow stage 1 is great with that combo but really when you get to that point there is plenty we can help you with, there are lots of choices.
go through our tech sticky at the top of our page, some helpful info I put in there and I'm working on more stuff.
again:
gears
bump timing
SFCs

Save up. Do some research. Ask lots of questions. Skunk has lots of good information also. Figure out how much you want to spend and your goals for the car.
