i never bothered with getting my a/c working on my 91 5.0 gt mustang. but i am now selling the car to someone who is intereste. He wants the a/c working .when it was working it seems to get warmer and warmer til it did not cool anymore .i just tryed to put the gas from those kits that you can buy ,but i noticed that it did not do anything .someone told me that as you put the gas in the clutch should engage but that did not happen .what should i be checking for .i do not want to spend to much on this

Did you jumper the low pressure switch before you put the gas in? It is located on top of the accumulator at the right rear of the engine compartment. It has two wires and you should unplug it, jumper the wiring connector. That should engage the clutch without any gas in it and make the compressor pull the gas in.

you need to have a vaccum pulled on it.

 

So from what I understand, you did not get the clutch to engage at all? Having racked my brain trying to figure out my own 88's AC set up and chasing wires with an multimeter, I found out the cause of my problem was my AC module. Adding more freon will not fix this problem, unless it was low/high pressure AC switch.

Got bored and sought the thread that got me to join a while back. I wonder if there was any progress with it?

 

That is the A/C relay for the computer. The computer shuts off the A/C under WOT (wide open throttle) via this relay. As said before the system should be put under vaccum to verfiy that there are no leaks. Also, check to see if the compressor clutch is engaging.
