My new project

So at work I've been watching contractors rebuild some of our fuel systems. And one of the workers(well call him worker 1) was listening to me and another contractor(worker 2) talk about Mustangs. Well worker 1 chimed in saying he had a 5.0 after worker 2 asked me if the 07 had a 5.0 in it. I asked worker 1 what year and what not, and he said it was a 79. I thought cool, I asked him what was done to it, and he said nothing, it was just sitting there and it was going to be his project car. So I was intrigued since he said it was just sitting there. I asked him if it was a hatch or notch, and he said "huh? It has a trunk" I asked him if he was looking to sell it and he said "sure" and srugged his shoulders. So tonight I called him and stopped by, and sure enough, it was a coupe, and it didnt have a wing or any luggage rack. So I went ahead and asked a bunch of questions, and looked it over real good.

No major rust. The floor pans are good, and so is the under body from what I could see. It is a 2bbl 5.0 with a 4 speed auto. Although right now it needs a new belt and H Balancer and battery to run. The paint of course isnt good. Its mostly like a light non metallic DSG, and the drivers door is blue, with the drivers front fender and hood spray painted black. The panels were in good shape, and the title is clear. The interior is where most of the work is needed. As in a complete overhaul, but I didnt mind it. I would pretty much gut the interior anyways. It needs a whole new dash, and that, I'm sure, will be a PITA, but hey, its gotta be done. And the only rust that isnt fixed by sanding and priming, is the rust cracks on the roof, but I can fix it.

After looking over it and questioning him to death. I offered $400. He accepted. Since the car doesnt run, I gave him $200 now, and got the title. The other $200 will be given to him on payday. That way it'll give me some time to figure out how to get it to my place.

Now, for those who want to know, I've wanted a coupe for a long time. And I told myself to be patient and wait till you find a good deal. And I pretty much did. Granted there are better deals out there, but hey, a $400 coupe with no major rust is good in my book. Plus I wont be modding the 07 as much as I was planning to. It'll still get the FRPP suspension and wheels, and possibly the Steeda hood.

So here it is, the $400 coupe.

Yes, the pony of tape will be taken off ASAP. haha

That is a good score, The car actually looks pretty straight! Those 4 eyes are starting to grow on me. Have fun, I'm jealous. Now that I have my 88" GT up and running I miss working on it. I need another project.

Just a tiny update.

I got the 302 running one day after using some seafoam the night before. It actually drove as well, but the tranny slips. Oh well, a C4 is going in anyways.

I have some 87-93 rear quater glass to go in, and new(er) tails that are in better shape waiting for me to install them. (I'm currently deployed)

When I get back, I'll be working on building a 408 for it.

+1 . . and great foundation! Love the 4-eyed notches!!

Those sail panels look to be in great shape if you decide to go full quarter glass you might get some cash for the sail panels.

I do have 87-93 quater glass, but I'm keeping the stock sails and glass in case I want to go back.
